Abstract

685,459. Bearings; lubricating. AKT.-GES. F. STUDER. Oct. 11, 1949 [Oct. 14, 1948], No. 26122/49. Class 12 (i). The conical or cylindrical bore of a stationary bearing bush 1 for a shaft 4 rotating therein has disposed between associated lubricant supply and discharge grooves 2, 3, respectively, eccentric surfaces 5 to form with the shaft surface lubricating wedges 6, and shaft supporting surfaces 7. The supply grooves are fed by passages 2a and a groove 8, and the grooves 3 discharge into passages 9<SP>1</SP>, grooves 9 and a passage 10. The grooves 2, 3 may be straight, curved or helical, and a channel 11 connected to the passage 10 intercepts the lubricant at the bush end. The supply grooves may extend over the whole bush length, in which case the lubricant feed may take place from the bush end. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises alternatively forming the grooves, and the eccentric and supporting surfaces, on the shaft which rotates in the stationary bush, or the shaft is stationary and the bush rotates about it. Applied to an end supporting journal, the grooves radiate from the centre. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
