685,115. Revolving-cylinder pumps. BOULTON PAUL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and NORTH, J. D. April 3, 1950 [April 1, 1949], No. 8938/49. Class 102 (i) [Also in Group XXIX] In a hydraulic pump comprising two or more cylinder blocks having radially arranged cylinders rotating about a common spindle, the cylinder blocks are formed as separate integers flexibly coupled together so as to be capable of a limited amount of relative flexing movement. The Figure shows a fixed shaft 1 on which are mounted cylinder blocks 2, 3, 4 containing cylinder bores 5, 6, 7. The shaft contains passages (not shown) for the liquid to pass to and away from the cylinder bores. Adjacent faces of the cylinder blocks 2, 3 are formed with undulations or teeth or projections 8, 9 and the blocks are coupled together by a member 10 of natural or synthetic rubber or other suitable flexible material clamped between them. The member 10 may be moulded to shape or may be a flat annulus which is deformed when clamped between the blocks. In a modification the adjacent faces of the cylinder blocks are smooth and the member 10 is bonded to them. The blocks 3, 4 are coupled together by means of an. Oldham coupling 11. Alternatively the blocks may be coupled together by means of co-operating teeth or projections or resilient packings may be provided between interengaging faces of teeth or like interengaging members. Any other form of coupling permitting limited relative flexing movement of the cylinder blocks may be used.
