Abstract

685,080. Check valves. KIDDE CO., Ltd., W., and R.F.D. CO., Ltd. July 5, 1951 [July 14, 1950], No. 17699/50. Class 135. A non-return check valve for use in inflating collapsable rubber dinghies with a liquefiable gas, e.g. carbon dioxide, comprises a valve body 1 having alternative inlets 2, a removable valve seat member 4, a spring-urged valve member 11 mounted in a guide member 10 screwed into the body, and a flanged member 16 securing the body to a rubber patch piece 17 secured by adhesive to the dinghy. The diameters of passages 3 in the inlets 2, radial holes 9 and an axial hole 7 in the seat member 4, and holes 14 in the guide member 10 are such that the cross section of the flow passage through the valve is constant, to prevent expansion and hence cooling of the gas.
