Abstract
685,055. Derricks. MOORE CORPORATION, L. C. Aug. 21, 1951. [Aug. 22, 1950] No. 19683/51. Class 78 (iv). An oil-well drilling structure includes a substructure which has ramps for facilitating the raising of the foot of a reclining mast to the level of shoes on top of the substructure. Each ramp is a structural steel slab C including parallel cross members 17 which support an I-beam 18. Spaced plates 19, which extend along the top of each beam, form a channel to receive small rollers 22 mounted on the mast D. The end of each slab adjacent to a shoe 11 is connected by hinges 13 to the front crosspieces 4 of the substructure and the other end is secured to plates 14 on the ends of the upper beams by removable fasteners 16. When the fasteners are removed, the slabs descend through recesses formed in the frames until they rest on cross members 20. The rollers 22 are mounted in brackets 23 projecting from the lower legs of the mast.
