Abstract

912,428. Staircase construction. GILBERTASH Ltd. April 20, 1961 [April 20, 1960], No. 13831/60. Class 20 (4). A staircase construction includes at least one prefabricated raker beam 1 spanning from one landing support to another and carrying prefabricated tread units 6 adjustable in position longitudinally of the beam, the tread and riser dimensions being determined by the size of the gaps between the tread units. In the exemplified embodiment the beam 1 comprises a spine raker beam from which the units 6 project each side as cantilevers, the beam having in its top surface a continuous slot 12 which receives heads of bolts 11 securing the tread units 6 to the beam. The gaps beteeen successive tread units are filled with mortar 13. The raker beam includes an inclined central portion 5 and horizontal upper and lower end portions 7, 8 which rest upon landing beams 2 and 3. Precast landing slabs 9 and 10 are carried by the end portions 7, 8 of the raker beam 1.
