Abstract

In a single-tower suspension bridge comprising road', rail and footways on a steel truss 3 carried by hanger cables 2, the truss 3 rests at each end on piers 7, 8 forming anchorages for main cables 1 which extend in opposite directions from a single central tower 4. As shown the truss 3 is additionally supported by two saddle piers 10, 11.
