684,448. Heat-exchangers. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN. Jan. 4,1951 [Jan. 4, 1950], No. 314/51 Class 64 (i) A heat-exchanger comprising a rotor consisting of a shell 20 connected to a hub 22 by radial partitions and rotatably mounted in a housing 10 provided with end plates 12, 14 having apertures 16, 18 for the passage therethrough of hot and cold gases respectively, is provided with peripheral and radial seals supported by members which are uninfluenced by warping of the rotor and which are arranged to maintain said seals in predetermined positions relatively to planes at right angles to the rotor axis. In Fig. 5 rods 28 are hingedly mounted by bolts 45 on the partitions of the rotor adjacent the hub 22. The rods 28 are, at their outer ends hingedly connected to cross bars 30 extending parallel to the rotor axis and interconnected by rings 32 fixed thereto and by a ring 34 which rides on rollers 36. Peripheral sealing strips 42 are carried on the rings 32 and radial sealing strips 44 are carried on the rods 28, the free edges of the strips 42, 44 being maintained with a minimum clearance against the end plates 12, 14 of the housing. Additional peripheral seals 52 are hingedly mounted on the rotor shell 20 and abut the rings 32 or such seals may be fixed to the rings 32 and abut the rotor shell. In a further form (Fig. 10) the peripheral seals comprise flange-like elements 60 or sealing strips, carried on plates 58 slidable against the rotor shell 20. The cross bars 30 may be flexible as shown in Fig. 10.
