Abstract

684,153. Moulding building plates, boards &c. EVENSEN, S. W. Dec. 23,1948, No. 33179/48. Class 87 (ii). A board made of long, thin, fibrous material, e.g. wood wool, and a binder, e.g. cement, is formed by pressing the large side surfaces of the board, then applying pressure to the side edges of the board without further reduction in the thickness of the board. The material may be pressed between plates 1, 2, the plates secured in position, and then pressed again by side members a, b. The members a, b may have grooves and tongues for forming tongues and grooves in the board. More material may be filled into the centre of the mould than around the edges, by means of a central filling frame provided with a packing piston (see Fig. 2, not shown). In a modification the moulds may be arranged vertically the material being introduced from the top through a side edge. Wood meal or cuttings may be added to the material.
