Abstract

684,112. Moulds for foamed rubber. TALALAY, J. A. July 3, 1950 [March 2, 1950], No. 16519/50. Class 87 (ii). [Also in Group XXVI] Foamed rubber is moulded in a mould having at least two sections 10, 11, the interengaging surfaces of which have means for preventing escape of rubber, yet allowing gases to escape. The means may comprise (a) grooves 16, Fig. 2, which fill with rubber which congeals and prevents further escape, (b) a fibrous, porous member 20 in grooves 16', 17', Fig. 3, (c) a rubber tube having a fabric cover located in interengaging grooves, Fig. 4 (not shown). The tube may be inflated after the mould has been closed, (d) a tube, in interengaging grooves, through which refrigerant is passed to freeze any escaping rubber or (e) interengaging grooves through which a gaseous or liquid coagulant is'passed, Fig. 7 (not shown).
