Abstract

A cellular rubber layer of a tyre, (see Group XXXIV) is formed in situ, during moulding of the tyre, by incorporating in the unvulcanized stock comprising the layer, a blowing agent which may be selected from the group diazoaminobenzol, dinitroso pentamethylene tetramine, benzolsulfonyl hydrazide, and hydrazocarbonamide. The tyre is moulded at a temperature of from 140 DEG C. to 170 DEG C., and a curing-bag pressure of from 150 to 300 lbs./in.2, for a predetermined time after which the curing-bag pressure is released to permit expansion of the gas produced by the blowing agent, the temperature being maintained for a short period to effect final cure.
