In a brassiÞre of the type in which the breast pockets each comprise upper and under bust sections, the meeting edges are such that one section, when flat, presents to the other section convex curves meeting in an apex, the other section presenting a complementary edge having rectilinear portions meeting in an acute angle corresponding to the apex, the edges being secured together and the upper bust section having portions extending downwardly on both sides of the under bust section. As shown, the upper bust section 13 has rectilinear edges 16 which meet in a point 17 in the vicinity of the nipple and extend from a diaphragm band 15 to which the downwardly extending portions 14 of the section 13 are secured. The under bust section 18 has convex edges 19 which are secured to the edges 16. Crossed elastic straps 21 may be inserted between the pockets and elastic straps 23 positioned at the outer sides of the pockets. Alternatively the invention may be applied to the type of brassiÞre in which triangular breast pockets overlap and are secured together in front. The under bust sections may have lower parts of double thickness material and pairs of rings may be attached to the upper apices of the pockets to afford adjustment to the shoulder straps.
