Class 24 A coupling member for a chain comprises a main link 1 to which is pivoted at 2 a coupling lever 3 so as to embrace a coupling link 4. The free end 3<SP>1</SP> of the lever 3 is held in position by a roller 7 mounted on one end of a locking lever 10 pivoted in lugs 11 of the main link 1. The lever 10 is spring biased into the position shown in Fig. 1, the arrangement being such that the tension is applied to the end 13 of the bar 10 the roller 7 rolls off the free end 3<SP>1</SP> of the lever 3 so that the link 4 may be released.
