Abstract
682,479. Vehicle lamps. PROCHAZKA, B. J. Sept. 21, 1950 [Sept. 28, 1949], No. 23170/50. Classes 75(iii) and 75(iv) A rotary vehicle signal lamp adapted to be turned to and maintained in predetermined positions includes a bearing part within the lamp housing for receiving a spindle part secured to a mounting bracket and a resiliently biassed element in one of the parts urged into engagement with the other part, which is provided with means aligned for co-operation with said element to hold the lamp housing in one or more predetermined position or positions relative to the mounting bracket. The spindle 16, Fig. 5, is received within a bearing sleeve 18 having a flange 33 by which it is secured by rivets to the cylindrical wall 24 of the lamp housing, the spindle 16 being secured by a nut 48 to a supporting bracket 45. A pair of leaf springs 57 secured to the spindle 16 have end portions 59, 60 biassed into engagement with the sleeve 18 which is provided with diametrically opposed grooves into which the portions 59, 60 enter at a predetermined angular position of the housing to retain the latter in said position. A holder 49 for an electric lamp 54 is carried by the inner end of spindle 16 which has a central bore for the passage of an electric supply lead 65. A lens provided with an identifying sign is held in a resilient ring secured in a split bezel clamped to the front edge of the lamp housing by a screw. In an alternative embodiment the inner end of the spindle 16 carries a bracket 74, Fig. 11, on which are mounted oppositely directed holders 49, 77 for electric lamp bulbs 54, 78, respectively, the lamp 78 being supplied intermittently or being of a different colour from the lamp 54.
