682,450. Arrangement of ports; cylinders. FIAT SOC. PER AZIONI, Aug. 4, 1949 [Aug. 6, 1948], No. 20345/49. Class 7 (ii). The inlet conduit 1 of an internal-combustion engine is in the form of a venturi wherein the restriction 6-6 is greatest in the plane containing the axes of the inlet conduit and valve respectively and is zero in a plane perpendicular thereto and extending through the conduit axis, and the wall of the conduit from the restriction onwards is deflected towards the axis of the valve and forms a projection extending in the direction of the valve spindle. The value K of the projection is greater than nought and smaller than R-r which are the radii of the valve seat and the valve spindle respectively.
