Abstract
Cyclohexylamine lactate is prepared by mixing with lactic acid, cyclohexylamine in excess of the stoichiometrically required amount by an amount up to about 10 per cent by weight and heating the resulting mixture at a temperature below the point at which water is split out, e.g. at about 265 DEG F., and cooling the reaction products to solidify them. The cyclohexylamine lactate product may be purified by washing with cold acetone. An example is given. The material may be used in connection with the production of soundrecording material as described in Specification 681,992,[Group XXXVIII]. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, refers to the use of a slight excess of cyclohexylamine in the above reaction. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
