Abstract
681,894. Mowing machines. ALLEN & SONS (OXFORD), Ltd., J. July 25, 1951, No. 17614/51. Class 6(iii) A power driven scythe of the kind comprising a motor driven reciprocable cutting mechanism mounted on a twowheeled chassis is characterized in that the cutting mechanism is secured to a i inge bar 36 pivotally mounted on an adjuster plate 25 angularly adjustable with respect to a mounting plate 22 secured thereto. As shown the adjuster plate 25 is provided with ribs 28, 29 which engage in shallow grooves in the plate 22 and which allow the adjuster plate 25 to be tilted, the plate being fixed in any adjusted position by means of bolts 26, 27. The hinge bar 36 is secured to the adjuster plate by means of a pin 38 which engages in a tube 39 mounted on the adjuster plate 25, the pin being retained in position by means of a spring 40, washer 41 and split pin 42. The hinge bar 36 may rotate about the pin 38, the degree of rotation being limited by stops 44, 45 on the adjuster plate 25 which engage the upper surface of the finger bar 18 of the cutting mechanism.
