Abstract
681,669. Surgical containers. ODELGA ARZTLICH-TECHNISCHE INDUSTRIE AKT.- GES. March 21, 1951 [March 22, 1950], No. 6774/51. Class 81 (ii). [Also in Group XVII] A vessel 1 for th preparation and stor age of blood for us in transfusions has a closure comprising rubber stopper 2 having a slit 12 con nected to the interio of the vessel by a passage 13, drawn on to the vessel by a screw cap 5 and a rubber cover cap 8 The closure is placed on the filled vesse with screw cap 5 loosely applied and a diaphragm 8 placed over the stopper 2 The vessel is sterilised in an autoclave, air escaping through the slit 12 which acts as a valve and througl the loosely con nected threads of the screw cap and vessel and then the cap is tightened to form a seal. On cooling a vacuum is established and is indicated by the collapse of the cover cap 8. In use for transfusions &c. the cover cap 8 is removed and the diaphragm 8 and stopper 2 punctured by the withdrawal apparatus.
