Abstract

680,993. Packages. BEVAN, S. A. June 1, 1949 [May 18, 1948], No. 13390/48. Class 94(i) A pad 2 impregnated with a semi-liquid bitumirious or rubbery adhesive is enclosed in a sheet or film 1 of flexible material impermeable to air which is doubled over and around the pad with its free edges projecting beyond the edges of the pad, and the projecting edges are sealed to provide an airtight envelope. The sealing may be effected by folding over the three edges of the doubled sheet or film 1 at least twice as at 3, and securing the folds by adhesive tape 4. A tab 5 of the pad may be kept free from adhesive to facilitate handling. The pad may be made of a sheet of paper, felt, or hessian to which the adhesive may be applied after it is laid on the impermeable sheet 1. The sheet 1, which may be of cellulose film, celluloid, or waxed paper, may be reinforced by a muslin strip or sheet to ensure its removal from the pad. The sealed wrapping or envelope containing the tacky pad is enclosed with a patch of roofing felt of approximately the same area in a second wrapping or envelope of cellulose film to form a patching set for repairing or laying roofs.
