680,317. Rotary regenerative heat-exchangers. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN. Sept. 18, 1950 [Oct. 15, 1949], No. 22845/50. Class 64 (i) A rotary drum type regenerator includes a seal between relatively moving parts thereof, comprising a ring providing a smooth sealing surface and mounted on one part and a plurality of arcuate sealing shoes mounted on the other part and urged into sealing contact with the sealing surface of the ring by spring means. In the form shown a sealing ring 30 which may be segmental, is bolted to the rotor shell 10 and may be adjusted axially of the rotor, towards or away from the adjacent end plate 21 of the stationary casing. A ring of stationary sealing shoes 33 abuts the ring 30 in sealing contact and the legs 35, 36 of the shoes are received in correspondingly shaped recesses in thrust blocks 37 mounted on the end plate 21 in circumferentially spaced relation around the rotor shell. The thrust blocks are movable radially on the rotor by the provision of guide slots 38 and are urged inwardly towards the rotor shell by means of tension springs 42, Fig. 3, which interconnect contiguous blocks.
