Abstract

680,219. Battery lamps combined with laryngoscopes. LIER, L. VAN. July 26, 1950 [July 26, 1949], No. 19650/49. Class 39(ii) [Also in Group VI] A laryngoscope comprises a handle carrying a head with which a blade is rigidly associated characterized by a light tube comprising a metal tube containing a transparent rod of methyl methacrylate or like clear synthetic resin lying parallel to tne bladeand mainlyexternal to it but entering the blade by anopening at its distal end, the light tube terminating in a lamp chamber at the proximal end of the blade. The handle 1 contains an electric battery and is fitted with a sparkproof switch 2. The apparatus is provided with a head fixed to the handle by a screw 4 and provided with a blade 7. A rod of methyl methacrylate is contained in a metal tube 10 which is fitted at one end, which projects through an opening 8 in the blade 7, with a lens 11, and terminates at the other end in a chamber which screws over a lamp fitted on the head of the apparatus. A flexible armoured connection 16 connects the lamp holder 14 with a socket in the handle 1.
