Abstract

612,116. Specula. POPPER, O. Nov. 10, 1945, No. 30084. Convention date, Nov. 30. 1944. [Class 81(ii)] A speculum comprises a tubular part 25 for passage into a body canal, and two lamps 12 adapted to project a beam of light parallel to but spaced from the axis of the tube well towards one side thereof. the lamps being disposed beyond the proximal end of the tube and being associated with a switch 19 for energizing one or both of them. The switch comprises a bridging contact 20 connecting with a battery 4 in the handle of the device by a feeder contact 21 and adapted to bridge one or both of the contacts 16, 17. Part of the head of the device is constituted by blocks 6, 7, secured by screws and cut away at 24 to enlarge the field of vision. The tubular part 25 is formed with an arcuate extension 26 adapted to fit in an arcuate socket in the head wherein it is held by a set screw. Interchangeable tubes of different diameters are provided.
