Abstract

878,580. Surgical optical instruments. ROSENFELD, E. B., MIAGKICH, T. N., WILLIAM-WILLMONT, M. N., OSSE, E. M., and PLOTNIKOV, A. V. July 3, 1959, No. 22891/59. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XX] A bronchoscope has means for varying the directions of observation and illumination simultaneously. The distal end of the instrument encloses two prisms 3a, 3b adjacent to a lateral window. The former forms part of the viewing, optical system while the latter reflects light, received from a lamp 2, through the window to the field of view. The two prisms are mounted on pivoted plates 7a, 7b connected by a link 13, which is moved longitudinally by a rod 4. This is actuated by a threaded block moved by an internally threaded ring adjacent to the eyepiece, see Fig. 1 (not shown).
