Abstract

1339616 Endoscopes RICHARD WOLF GmbH 19 April 1971 [26 March 1970] 25468/ 71 Heading A5R [Also in Division G2] An electronic flash device associated with an endoscope (not shown) comprises at least one flash tube 7 with associated mirror 10 and condenser 11, a pilot lamp 18 with associated mirror 19 and condenser 20, for observing the object to be photographed; a pivotable deflecting prism 23; and a fibre optic bundle 12 connectable to a light conductor 15 which forms part of the endoscope. The axes 17, 2.1 of the lamp and optical systems are inclined, as shown at 90‹ and the prism in the position shown deflects light from the pilot lamp 18 into the bundle 12. On operation of the shutter of the endoscope, an electromagnet is energized to pivot the prism 23 out of the path of light from the flash tubes 7, which are in turn energized in response to the prism pivoting movement.
