Abstract

Alkali metal, especially sodium, pyrophosphate peroxyhydrate, is produced by dissolving 1 mol. neutral anhydrous pyrophosphate in at least 3 mols. strong hydrogen peroxide, e.g. a 35 per cent aqueous solution, and evaporating, preferably under vacuum, until shortly before the first solid particles separate, whereupon additional quantities of anhydrous neutral pyrophosphate are added to bind the free hydrogen peroxide present in the supply solution, to produce a solid product which may be dried at 100-110 DEG C.
