[Also in Group V] A dielectric or insulating material consists of a mass of minute mica flakes, randomly arranged and held together by molecular attraction, preferably permeated by a fluid insulating medium such as gaseous nitrogen or sulphur hexafluoride. The material may be used as the dielectric of a parallel plate condenser or as the insulation 12, Fig. 2, separating the inner from the outer conductor of a coaxial cable containing gas under pressure.
