Abstract

679,104. Supply system for X-ray tubes. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. June 13, 1951 [July 12, 1950], No. 13984/51. Class 38 (iv). To render the space current independent of variations in anode voltage, the cathode heating transformer 15 of the X-ray tube 10 is supplied through a saturable reactor 18, the impedance of which is varied by a valve 20 controlled by a D.C. voltage proportional to the voltage applied to, or selected for application to, the primary winding of the H.T. transformer 7. The D.C. control voltage, which appears across a potentiometer 24, is obtained over a rectifier 29 from a transformer 26 connected across the output side of an autotransformer 5 through which the transformer 7 is fed. The space current is adjusted by a potentiometer 22 controlling the grid bias voltage of valve 20.
