Abstract

678,675. Pliers; insulated handles. BLUM, J. April 9, 1951, No. 8149/51. Class 61 (ii). Handles of pliers are insulated by providing them with tubular coverings in the upper end of each of which is inserted one arm of an angle shaped slip guard. The sleeves 1 are drawn onto the handles and fastened thereto either by drawing them on in warm condition with applied cooling or in cold condition with applied heating. Each guard 3 is composed of insulating material or metal with an insulating covering the leg 4 being secured to the handle by the sleeve 1. The legs 4 may be channel shaped to engage the handle on three sides. In a modification, the two guards are formed by a single piece of flexible material having a central opening through which the jaws 5 of the pliers are inserted on assembling the parts.
