Abstract
677,833. Aerials. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 1, 1948 [Oct. 3, 1947], No. 25584/48. Class 40 (vii). To avoid disturbing the symmetry of the horizontal radiation pattern of an array of disccone dipoles 1-9, the groups of feeder lines 24-27 and 28-31 are bound together and wound around the outside of the array spirally so that they cut across the opening between the two surfaces of each dipole once only and at 90 degrees displaced positions for successive dipoles. For cophasal energization the dipoles are fed by feeders of equal length, the extra lengths which are not extended to the dipoles and the feeder for dipole 5 being housed in a junction-box 12 which also houses a matching section. The lengths of feeder may be chosen for other phasing. When the array is mounted on a mast, the main feeder 32 is brought up the mast and spiralled around the lower group of dipoles with the other feeders.
