Abstract
677,003. Making grilles. THORN ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., ANDERSON, L. T., BELL, T. F. P., and KEMBER, R. C. June 27, 1950 [June 28, 1949], No. 17119/49. Class 83 (ii). [Also in Group XI] In a grille in which a series of parallel slats are engaged with a series of transverse slats by means of slots extending part-way across each slat (egg-box construction), at each intersection of two slats the slot of a slat is provided with an enlargement 14 part way along its depth and the co-operating slat has a projection 13 projecting out of the plane of the slat into the enlargement; and in assembly the projection is forced through the part of the slot between its mouth and the enlargement. As shown, each slot has both an enlargement and a projection. The projections are formed by cutting the slat either along a straight line or along an arc and then displacing the cut edge outwardly. The enlargements may be rectangular or arcuate or undercut and they may extend as shown on both sides of the slot.
