Abstract

676,565. Electroplating processes. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. 1. March 24, 1950 [July 18, 1949], No. 7457/50. Class 41. A process for electroplating includes electrolysing an electrolyte at substantially constant current density and periodically reversing the direction of current flow, so that a metal article to be plated alternately becomes cathodic for a period of time not less than 50 seconds and not more than 120 seconds and anodic for a period of time equal to 5 to 75 per cent of the preceding cathodic time. The process may be used for electroplating a base metal with copper, the electrolyte including an aqueous copper cyanide solution. Specification 630,165 is referred to.
