Abstract

676,394. Securing hammer heads. SOCHOR, J. July 7, 1950, No. 17091/50. Class 61 (i): [Also in Group XXV] A wooden handle is fixed in the eye of a hammer head by means of a wedge member comprising a central pin 8 having arms 9 which span the end of the handle and have downwardly projecting cutting edges 10. Depending strips 12 attached to the rounded outer ends of the arms 9 have rounded outer surfaces which fit in the eye. The wedge is placed in the socket prior to hammering in the handle, the ends of the strips 12 being subsequently bent back into recesses 4 in the head. In a modification downwardly projecting pins are provided at the ends of the arms, these being forced into inclined bores opening into the bore in the hammer head.
