Class 64(ii) Secondary heat-exchange surfaces e are provided on the inner surface of the cylinder a of a temperature - responsive element either of the type (as shown) in which a thermally expanding substance is contained between a rigid metal cylinder a and an internal bellows b or of the type, Fig. 2 (not shown), in which the substance is contained in both the cylinder and the bellows which are separated but connected by a tube. The outer end of a stem d secured to the movable end of the bellows actuates a switch or valve. The surfaces e may be arranged on the outer surface of the cylinder a as well as the inner and consist of annular discs, longitudinal ribs or a helically coiled fin or fins of metal strip. The Provisional Specification describes also the provision of the surfaces e on the outside only of the cylinder a, in the type of element having internal bellows.
