Abstract
345,010. Thermally-actuated valves. SERCK RADIATORS, Ltd. and NEWMAN, L. W., Warwick Road, Greet, Birming- ham..Jan. 21, 1930, No. 2064. [Class 135.] A switch d or valve or shutter is operated by the expansion, with change of temperature, of fluid, e.g. a volatile liquid, contained between a rigid cylinder or enclosure a and a flexible cylinder b, the cylinder b having secured to it a stem c, movement of which is prevented by a spring- pressed ball g engaging a groove f until a predetermined point is reached at which the stem moves forward rapidly and operates the switch or valve. A second and smaller groove m holds the switch or valve open, till the temperature falls sufficiently. Alternatively the switch or valve may be reclosed by hand.
