Abstract

Class 99 (i) A detachable coupling device adapted to engage the abutting flanges b, n of the pipes comprises a U-shaped collar d engaging behind the flange b, and having at the end of each arm a bolt q and a nut, dr a spring-urged plunger projecting towards the pipe a to prevent removal of the collar, and a U-shaped wedging collar h, the arms k of which have a surface engaging the flange n, and an inclined surface engaging an inclined surface g on lugs f carried by the collar d. The lugs f have pins m engaging slots i in the arms k. The wedging collar h is driven to tighten the joint in the same direction as that in which the coupling is assembled on the pipes. The bolt q may have a ring s to receive a chain or rope for suspending the pipes.
