672,548. Spring seats. RACE, Ltd., E. Jan. 24, 1951. [Feb. 13, 1950] No. 3655/50. Class 52 (iv). A chair back and seat comprises a number of coiled springs 4 loosely mounted in plastic sleeves, the ends of the individual springs being connected to the frame members by clips. As shown, the coiled springs 4 are loosely encased in plastic tubes or sleeves 6 the hook ends 5 of the springs passing through apertures 9 in the ends of metal strips 7 embracing the frame members 13 and constituting the clips. The clips are preferably protected by a sheath 8 of plastic material and the connecting ends of the clips are disposed within the sleeves 6 of the springs 4. The springs may be arranged in parallelism or the arrangement may be radial or other convenient form. The springs may be spaced by wire members having loops 16.
