672,288. Zeroizing-mechanism. SODECO SOC. DES COMPTEURS DE GENEVE. Oct. 14, 1949 [Oct. 27, 1948], No. 26405/49. Class 106 (i). In a telephone-charge-indicating counter B which is zeroized, on manipulating a control lever 17, by levers 31, 32, acting on heartshaped cams 13, 15 associated with numeral drums 10, 14, one or more springs are stressed at the beginning of the zeroizing operation and driving and transfer pinions 20, 43 are uncoupled from the drums only when the or each spring is sufficiently stressed to cause the levers abruptly to return the cams and drums to zero. As shown, impulses applied to an electromagnet 1 operate pawl-and-ratchet mechanism 3, 5 to actuate counter B, and an additional totals counter A, through toothed gears 6, 7, 8. Gear 8 is connected to the units drum 10 of counter B through gearing 11, 20, 12, and the drum 10 operates the tens drum 14 through transfer tooth 34, pinion 43 and gear 35. Pinions 20, 43 are carried in a spring-urged frame 16 and engaged by tooth-arresting springs 36, 37. Operation of lever 17 rocks a shaft 19 carrying levers 24, 25 having stop pins for levers 32, 31, respectively, and a lever 23 having a pin 41 which engages and rocks the frame 16 after springs 27, 28, connecting levers 31, 32 to the shaft, have been stressed to effect the zeroizing.
