672,069. Engine cylinders. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 21, 1950 [April 23, 1949], No. 9816/50. Class 122(i) [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A cylinder for a servomechanism comprises a pair of cylinder members supported in concentric spaced relation, the inner cylinder being of comparatively frangible material such as glass and having an accurately sized bore, means being provided for supplying fluid under pressure to the space between the concentric cylinders. A glass cylinder 18 is supported in ring members 20, 22 and surrounded by a cylinder 24 also supported by the ring members, to which it may be brazed as at 34 or seal rings 32 may be provided between the cylinder and ring members. Seal rings 30 are provided between the cylinder 18 and the ring members. Head members 14, 15 having connections 46, 48 to the interior of the cylinder 18 are secured to the members 20, 22 by screws 40 and the head members are tied together by rods 43. The annular space 36 between the cylinders is connected to a source of fluid pressure at 58.
