Abstract
671,976. Sectional boats. SMYTH, R. W. Aug. 18, 1950 [Oct. 28, 1949], No. 27733/49. Class 113 (ii). In a round-bilge type of boat made in parts or sections 10, 11 to be nested in one another, each part has a transverse frame-member 13 or 16 and a bulkhead 14 or 17 secured to the frame member at the end which is to abut another part, one (13) of each pair of adjacent transverse frame-members 13, 16, being shaped to provide a socket 15 into which the other frame-member, or the bulkhead (17) secured thereto, spigots. The parts 10, 11 of the boat are secured together by releasable clips each comprising a hook-member 28 which engages a pin 32 and which is adjustable in length by a flat-sided turn-buckle nut. The hook-member is pivoted at 27 on an operating handle 26 between two plates 25 thereon which lock the nut, the handle being pivoted on one part of the boat at 23 to swing across the line joining the axes of the pivots 32 and 23 so as to be selflocking when the hook-member is in its operative position.
