Abstract

671,804. Chucks. SENECA FALLS MACHINE CO. July 6, 1950, No. 16951/50. Class 83 (iii). [Also in Group XXVIII] In a pneumatically-operated hollow-spindle collet chuck of the kind in which the chuck is connected to one end of a draw-bar 17, the other end of which is connected to a piston 16 in a cylinder 15 rotatable with the spindle, the cylinder is connected to a shaft 20 having an air-admitting passage 46, to which compressed air is supplied continuously by means of a pipe 40 and a non-rotating member 41, and passages 23, 26 for conveying compressed air to opposite sides of the piston to open and close the chuck, the passage 46 being connected to one or other of the passages 23, 26 by a slidable sleeve 30 rotatable with the chuck and having an annular recess 48.
