Abstract

671,715. High-frequency electric transmission arrangements. COMPAGNIE DES FREINS & SIGNAUX WESTINGHOUSE. Jan. 24, 1950 [Feb. 1, 1949], No. 1850/50 Class 40 (viii). An attenuator comprises input and output lines or guides 1 and 5, the inner end of line 1 carrying a fixed coupling member 3 co-operating with an axially-movable coupling-member 8 carried by the output line 5, means being provided for varying the amount of input energy available at the inner end of line 1 and means being also provided to indicate the amount of this available energy. As shown, the energy absorbing means comprises a stub 16 with a movable short-circuiting element 19. The indicating means comprises a crystal or diode 25 interposed in a line 24 connected to an indicator. Members 8 and 19 are moved by pins 12 and 21 engaging in helical threads in rotatable bushings 11 and 22.
