671,585. Sealing packages. SCRIBBANS-KEMP, Ltd., RUSSELL. A. C., and HALSEY, A.E. March 16, 1950, No. 6632/50. Class 94 (i) [Also in Group XV] A machine to apply heat-activated adhesive seals to cartons has heated presser means to first tack the seal in position followed by further means to apply heat and pressure, and pad means to cool and set the adhesive. A seal strip D is fed by fingers B from a reel F, and seals are severed by a knife G after being projected into a holder H. The holder H pivots to bring the seal against the carton where it is engaged and tacked in position by a presser J. The cartons are advanced step by step by blades A of a conveyer and, after tacking of the seal by the presser J, are advanced first to heated pressers K and then to cooling pads L, M, to complete the sealing operation. An attachment for the blades A to hold cylindrical packets and a modified seal holder are described. A lever C prevents feeding of the strip D when no packet is present.
