Abstract

671,404. Wrenches, RUDMAN, R. R. July 12, 1950 [June 21, 1949], No. 16407/49. Class 61 (iii). A gear operated wrench comprises a twopiece casing 5, 6 provided with a steadying handle 8 and housing two pairs of interengaging reduction gears 1, 2 ; 3, 4 rotatably mounted in the casing, the gears 2 and 3 being secured to a square spindle. The spindle Ib of the input gear 1 has an extended shank provided with holes 1a for a tommy bar the output gear 4 which is freely rotatable on the spindle 1b having a square shank 4a, to which a work engaging appliance may be attached. To apply pressure to tight nuts the socket is connected to the square stud 2a on the gear 2 and torque is applied to the gear 1. For use as a speed wrench torque is applied to the gear 2 and the work engaging appliance connected to the gear 1.
