671,239. Automatic temperature control systems. GRISLEY, F. Jan. 14, 1950, No. 969/50. Class 38 (iv). In a temperature control system, the thermostat S controlling heating or refrigerating apparatus is located in a jacket J of low thermal conductivity, located in the space whose temperature is to be controlled, together with an associated auxiliary heater H, the arrangement being such that in the case of heating apparatus both main heaters L and auxiliary heater M are switched on and off in unison and in the case of refrigerating apparatus the heater H is energized when the refrigerating apparatus is de-energized (Fig. 2, not shown). The supply of surge to the auxiliary heater may be varied by a potentiometer P. The heaters may be supplied directly from the supply as in Fig. 1 or alternatively the auxiliary heater, or both the auxiliary heater and the main heating or cooling apparatus may be isolated from the supply by transformers, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown).
