670,755. Portable endless conveyers; loading vehicles. WAHBURTON, J. R. Sept. 21, 1950. [Sept. 26, 1949] No. 24650/49. Classes 78 (i) and 78 (iv). [Also in Group I] A portable loading device comprises a wheeled frame 1 carrying a pick-up elevator 22 feeding the material from the ground on to a transverse conveyer 60 which transfers it to a receiving vehicle alongside, the conveyer being slidably mounted in channel-section guides 55 so that it can project to an adjustable extent from either side of the machine. The elevator 22 comprises an endless band having tined slats at intervals and is pivoted about the axis 18 of its upper roller 20. The lower end carries groundengaging shoes 26 and is raisable, for transport, by a lever 33 and links 28. Parallel to the upper elevator-roller 20 is a second, lower, roller 21 which, together with fixed guides 14, assists the transfer of the crop on to the band 60. The band 60 is slatted and is driven from a lay-shaft 74 through V-belting 78, a movable jockey-pulley 79 being provided to take up belt-slack in any adjusted position. The frame is mounted on land wheels 4 and castors 12 and carries an engine 37 for driving the conveyers and roller 21. The machine may be associated with the vehicle described in Specification 670,768, [Group I].
