Abstract

670,365. Gas turbine plant. LUCAS, Ltd., J. July 20, 1950. [Aug. 2, 1949] No. 20092/49. Class 110(iii) [Also in Group XXIX] A conduit c, d between the outlet s of a fuel injection pump of a gas turbine engine and a servomotor m, n for adjusting a swashplate p of the pump, has a spring- loaded interception valve e which closes the conduit c, d in the event of excessive reduction of supply. of fuel to the engine due, e.g., to the sticking open of a valve (not shown) controlling a vent r from the servomotor, which valve is manually operable or responsive to speed or other conditions associated with the working of the engine. The interception valve is normally held open by the pump delivery pressure acting on a diaphragm f (or a piston). In the event of the valve e closing, the consequent increase in pump delivery pressure due to the action of a spring o loading the servo-piston, causes a partial reopening of the valve e to provide a governing effect, control over which can be effected by adjustment of the spring g, which loads the valve e by a manually operable cam j or a screw or wedge &c.
