Class 20(i) In a hinged link bascule bridge the bridge structure 1 is exclusively supported by crossed links 2, 3, pivoted to the bridge at 5, 6 and to the abutment at 4, 5. The links are disposed and proportioned, and the counterweight 7 is adjusted so that, in lifting, the C of G of the structure moves in a straight line from G to G<SP>1</SP> on the same level. The bridge may be supported on two or more such pairs of links, and is operable by rack and pinion or by relative angular displacement of the links.
