Abstract
740,224. Rolling bascule bridges. AKT.- GES. FUR UNTERNEHMUNGEN DER EISEN-UND STAHLINDUSTRIE. March 23, 1954 [March 25,1953],No. 8456/54. Class 20(1). The counterweight arm of a rolling bascule bridge is connected, by a transversely extending yielding member 14, with a rocking arm 10 pivoted to a shaft 9 of the actuating gear, the arm carrying, on its free end, a pinion 11 driven by the actuating gear and engaging a partcircular rack 13. The main girders 1 carry arms 2 joined by a counterweight 3 and having runners 4 which, as the bridge moves, roll on tracks 5 on foundation 6. Shaft 9 forms part of manually or motor-driven gearing which through bevel gearing and a shaft 12 drives a pinion 11.
