Abstract

<PICT:0670118/III/1> Hot cast-iron pipes from a casting-machine are carried by conveyers 27, 38, 39 to a hood D, where they are cleaned by air blast containing sand, shot or other abrasive, and thence by conveyers 39, 42 through a tank 41 containing tar or bitumen to a truck 43. The conveyer 42 is arranged to hold the pipes inclined so that surplus tar drains away and the heat of the pipes dries them. The hoppers 16 and batteries of moulds may be duplicated.
