Abstract
399,593. Sanding bricks, tiles, &c. JACKMAN & CO., Ltd., J. W. and GARRATT, S. E., Vulcan Works, Blackfriars Road, Salford, Manchester. May 11, 1932, No. 13542. [Class 87 (ii).] For sanding green bricks, tiles, and the like, the bricks 38 are carried on a conveyer 7 between induction or pressure nozzles 19 which are rocked by adjustable linkage 25 .. 32 operated by a cam 37. Tn the illustrated form the nozzles are supplied with compressed air from pipes 23 and induce sand from the hopper 14 through the pipes 21. Each nozzle is adjustable on a serrated bracket 24 to vary the ambit of its movement. An exhaust fan 10 removes sand from the uppermost side of the lower return run of the conveyer belt 7. A feed hopper 15 with counterweighted delivery flap 17 is used to recharge the hopper 14. The same apparatus may be used to sand an extruded clay bat prior to cutting up into bricks.
