670,102. Counting-apparatus. GRAHAM & CO., Ltd., A., and TAPLIN, R. W. May 17, 1950 [May 17, 1949], No. 13103/49. Class 106 (i). In a registering mechanism, e.g. for an electricity meter, comprising a cyclometer - type counter with numberwheels having pins or teeth on one side engaged by transfer pinions, the drive to the lowest wheel 31 is by means of a worm 36 continuously and directly engaging its said teeth 22, and the spindle 37 of the worm carries a number disc 38 or pointer serving as the indicator of the next lower order. The rear bearing 39 of the spindle 37 is a jewel thrust-bearing 39 in a block 40 adjustably secured to a bracket 41 on the rear plate 28 of the counter, the bracket 41 also carrying a vertical spindle 43 through which the drive is transmitted from the meter. The wheel 31 has twenty teeth 22 and the worm 36 a two-start thread. Each tooth 22 comprises a pin portion 23 and a strengthening rib 24.
